SFST Certification Program (16 or 24 Hrs)

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
(NHTSA) estimates that nearly 40% of all traffic fatalities
involve   alcohol use… and this program is focused
towards helping patrol officers lower those statistics by
enforcing the OWI laws with the federally recognized SFST
enforcement program.

The full certification program covers all training modules of
NHTSA’s, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing program.
All participants are required to complete several SFST
batteries under the watchful eye of a certified instructor in
order to gain certification.

SFST Refresher Training (4 Hrs)

In 2007, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute passed a
standard that requires officers to re-certify their SFST
training in order to remain eligible for grant funded OWI
enforcement programs.

This refresher program features an overview of the
Certified SFST process but also focuses attention on the
legal arena of OWI enforcement by reviewing recent law
changes and case briefs of OWI arrests.
