Midwest Law Enforcement Training Institute

Domestic Violence Program
Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Certified
The Domestic Violence program features an
overview of the many facets that officers must be
aware of when dealing with these frequent but
unpredictable situations.

Attendees will not just focus their attention on
answering domestic violence calls, but will learn to
fully investigate the complaints and understand the
genesis of the problem.

In understanding the reasoning that is the
foundation of the domestic violence complaint,
officers will learn how to   determine the primary
aggressor and will be encouraged to make the arrest
by completing a fact based investigation.

Officers will also learn how to detect domestic
violence issues by observing clues throughout the
family dynamic such as episodes of ’acting out’ by
children or patterns of behavior observed in other
family members.

Safety planning and community awareness
programs are also featured as valuable tools in
stopping the cycle of domestic violence.
